North Central Tech Prep Region 3

Tech Prep is a partnership between community colleges, technology centers and school systems. The focus of this partnership is to provide students with a seamless transition from high school to postsecondary degree or certificate to the workplace. Tech Prep education in Oklahoma consists of a 4 2 2 planned sequence of study in a technical field beginning as early as the seventh grade, extending through secondary instruction and post-secondary education and ending with at least a two-year degree, certificate, or certification and possibly a four-year degree. Tech Prep integrates academic and technical instruction, and utilizes work-based and worksite learning where appropriate and available. Tech Prep educates students about career choices through individualized programs that provide a meaningful, applicable and educational experience.

North Central Tech Prep consortium consists of Pioneer Technology Center and Meridian Technology Center, Northern Oklahoma College and the following public schools: Blackwell, Tonkawa, Ponca City, and Woodland.

North Central Tech Prep is in the process of developing clearly defined clusters and six-year pathways to help students achieve success in the workplace as they transition from high school to tech center to post-secondary and finally the job market. We are currently in the process of developing two cluster areas; Health and Information Technology. North Central Tech Prep, (Pioneer Technology Center, Ponca City High School and Northern Oklahoma College) is a national IT pilot site for the development of the Business and Information Technology cluster. We offer professional development over a broad range of topics, including career cluster development, Teachers as Advisors, teacher internships, contextual learning, and enhancing teacher skills.
