BPA Students to Participate in Leadership Conference

Top students from Pioneer Technology Center will be attending the Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2008 National Leadership Conference, "Find Your Fit," in Reno, NV, May 7-11. Pioneer Tech chapter members, Victoria Stockton, Ann Fisher, Brandon Moore, EJ Strother, Jeremy Cochran, Bryan Sharp, Matt Lockwood, and Darwin Bell will join over 6,000 other conference delegates from across the nation to participate in national-level business skill competitions, workshops, general sessions, and the national officer candidate campaigns and elections. Besides having the opportunity to excel, they'll experience western central Nevada as they visit exciting sites.

 

"The conference will be the culmination of a school year's worth of business workforce education and training which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at Pioneer Tech have received," said chapter advisor, Whitney Edens. "We are so proud of the hard work and dedication of these eight students and know they will represent Kay County very well."  The following students will be making the trip to Reno to compete at the national level: Victoria Stockton, Ponca City, Advanced Office Systems and Procedures; Ann Fisher, Newkirk, Payroll Accounting; Brandon Moore, Ponca City, Interview Skills; EJ Strother, Newkirk, Cisco; Jeremy Cochrane, Ponca City, Cisco; Bryan Sharp, Tonkawa, Microsoft Systems Administration; Matt Lockwood, Ponca City, Microsoft Systems Administration; and Darwin Bell, Ponca City, Cisco and Computer Security.

 

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school, college and middle school students preparing for careers in business and information technology. The organization's activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school. Business Professionals of America acts as a cohesive agent in the nationwide networking of education and business and industry. BPA is contributing to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. Business Professionals of America is assisted in this endeavor with financial support from corporations and companies including Shell, and South-Western/Cengage who sponsor BPA's National Leadership Conference, and member career building programs and scholarships.
